Prayer by Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton
O Father, the first rule of Our dear Savior's life was to do Your Will. Let His Will of the present moment be the first rule of our daily life and work, with no other desire but for its most full and complete accomplishment. Help us to follow it faithfully, so that doing what You wish we will be pleasing to You. Amen.
Sometimes I forget that God's will may not be all glory and grandeur in our eyes. It is an incredible experience to be able to sing in front of thousands of people as we did yesterday, to lead the community in worship...but at the same time, we are not called to this constantly. God has to keep us in check, keep us humbled. Just as He calls us to do amazing things for His kingdom, He calls us to do simple things as well out of great love...and they are just as amazing in His eyes. I need to be OK with the fact that God calls me not only as a music minister, but also a nurse and a wife...with cumbersome responsibilities. If we do our simple, daily, annoying tasks out of great love, and submission for God's simple will, that can amount to a LOT of grace. How many opportunities do I waste on a daily basis to give God praise? It doesn't always have to be singing at the top of my lungs in front of a crowd for Jesus.
"There are no great things, only small things with great love. Happy are those."
