Carly the puppy

We brought home puppy Carly this last Saturday. We even drove through the first snowstorm of the year to get her. It felt like a real rescue. She was so well behaved on the ride back, we felt very good about our decision! We are loving having a puppy around. The first night we had a little scare when she started screaming from her crate as we tried to go back to sleep. We had to treat her like a child and sit with her until she went to bed. Every night it gets a little better. She is doing really well with the housebreaking too, with only 1 accident a day it seems. I have had fun teaching her "sit." Now we are working on "stay" and to not bite our hands and feet...these will take a little more patience it seems. She gets more energy everyday...whew! We had our first vet visit today and she is all clear for good health! We are loving the vet that Kate recommended to us!
The cats are doing relatively well adjusting to the new "mutt." Toby has already asserted his dominance as king of the household. Kittan just stares at her with this "what the he** is that" kind of look in her eyes. Poor Carly really wants to be friends with Kittan...and she has gotten a few swipes across the face b/c of it. We will just have to find some other dogs to play with instead.
12 weeks old and 15 lbs. We have no idea how big she is going to get...haha. It will be fun times I'm sure. It is also good practice for parenthood. John must have gotten all this paternal energy b/c the kitchen has stayed clean ever since she got here. I LOVE it. ;)
